Turkish imports heavy in May
Turkey imported 96,083 tonnes of raw cotton during May, the highest monthly total since May 2010. The total for the first five months of this year thus rose to 401,507 tonnes, and that for the first ten months of the international cotton season to 657,188 tonnes.
During May, imports from the United States amounted to 66,865 tonnes, while those from Central Asia totalled 19,104 tonnes. Indian was credited with 3,083 tonnes, Syria with 2,372 and West African producers with 1,024 tonnes.
