Pakistan: prices and export registrations
Prices
Steady conditions have prevailed in the local cotton market. Yesterday’s rise in New York cotton futures has supported local cotton prices, and some mills with prompt needs have been induced to meet nearby requirements. Ginners have been able to dispose of some stocks at current rates, though turnover has remained modest.
Asking prices for better grade lots from Punjab and Sindh have ruled between Rs. 6,400 and Rs. 6,800 per maund (79.20/84.15 US cents per lb), ex-gin. Average quality cotton has attracted from around Rs. 5,400 to Rs. 6,200 per maund.
Raw cotton export registrations and shipments
According to the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan, raw cotton export registrations from August 1 to June 7 totalled 566,975 bales (including 17,247 bales of 2011/12 crop), and shipments totalled 426,753 (65,201).
