India: local prices higher


 

Prices in the domestic lint market have increased today. Shankar-6 has risen by ₹100 to ₹54,300 per candy, ex gin (approximately 80.75 US cents per lb), while Punjab J-34 has edged higher to ₹5,630 per maund, ex gin (79.80 cents per lb).

The floor price for Shankar-6 at the Cotton Corporation of India (CCI) auction is unchanged for the seventh consecutive day at ₹55,600 per candy (82.70 cents per lb). Around 990,000 bales are on offer, of which approximately 12,000 are from the 2023/24 season.

Daily seed cotton arrivals are estimated at 41,600 lint equivalent bales. Of the total, 17,000 were from Gujarat, 16,000 were from Maharashtra, and 2,600 were from the Northern Zone.
