Japan: January raw cotton imports
According to data from the Japan Cotton Traders’ Association, raw cotton shipments to Japan during January amounted to 2,656 tonnes, slightly higher than the 2,534 shipped in the corresponding period of 2021.
Thus, imports during August/January amounted to 16,203 tonnes, 5,749 tonnes more than in the same months of the previous season but 9,609 tonnes lower than in 2019/20. In terms of major origins, 7,692 tonnes were shipped from the United States, 3,597 from Australia, 2,081 from Greece, 1,190 from Brazil and 567 from Turkey. Imports from other origins amounted to 1,143 tonnes.
