Pakistan: slow import demand
Enquiry for imported growths has remained lacklustre over the past few days. Nearby business remains almost at a standstill, as the premium asked for cotton available for prompt delivery renders such offers uncompetitive in relation to Pakistan new crop prices, and has thus ensured that spinners have focused on local cotton.
New crop import business has also remained slow, as mill buyers have generally baulked at firm basis levels. However, some US new crop business has continued, as some more aggressive offers of cotton slightly discounted for quality specifications have attracted buying interest. Fine count spinners have purchased some modest quantities of Turkmen ELS against their prompt requirements.
