The latest planted area data, as at October 8, show a total of 11,689,700 hectares, which is 48,600 more than a week earlier. The increases concern Andhra Pradesh (+10,000) and Tamil Nadu (+38,600). Hence, the shortfall compared with last season’s final planted area figure has declined slightly, to less than eight percent.
