Interior asking rates for Shankar-6 have ruled steady for the seventh consecutive trading day, at Rs. 32,750 per candy, ex-gin. With a stronger rupee, today’s equivalent value is approximately 64.30 US cents per lb. Punjab J-34 has also remained steady, at around Rs. 3,510 per maund (65.70 US cents per lb).

Nationwide, daily seed cotton arrivals are estimated at around 39,000 lint equivalent bales (170 kgs), including 8,000 from Gujarat, 8,000 from Maharashtra, 7,500 from the Northern Zone and 8,000 from Andhra Pradesh. It may be noted that the crop in Andhra Pradesh, which is usually not delivered to gin yards until around mid-October, has been moving early this year.
