Pakistan: local prices unchanged
Stable conditions have prevailed in the local cotton market. Mills have remained active buyers, while exporters have kept to sidelines. Domestic mill buying prior to the Eid holidays and the weaker rupee have been the two main factors supporting prices. Business in Sindh new crop cotton has been reported at between Rs. 6,500 and Rs. 6,600 per maund (roughly 77.75/78.95 US cents per lb), ex-gin, and around Rs. 6,550 to Rs. 6,600 in Punjab.
Raw cotton export registrations and shipments
According to the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan, raw cotton export registrations from August 1 to July 23 totalled 606,510 bales (including 17,507 bales of 2011/12 crop), and shipments totalled 462,454 (65,201).
