China: southern Xinjiang rains
Revised assessments of the intensity and extent of the rainfall over last weekend in Southern Xinjiang indicate that the deluge was more serious than at first indicated, with high levels of cumulative rainfall in a number of places, flash floods, damage to property and crops as well as to transport infrastructure. Although references are made to damage to agricultural crops, including rice, wheat and corn, no specific mention is made of adverse effects on cotton other than those already reported.
